This is a great play most advanced players use on a regular basis against players who C-bet close to any board after they’ve raised — but we also know NOT to make this play in a check-call way out of position. Gavin Smith doesn’t stress this enough imo, so make sure you call in position, knowing that you’ll have the information of the player acting BEFORE you on the turn. This is VITAL.

… with a ridiculous call holding T8s. Gus Hansen makes the call for almost all his chips — I know he probably thinks this is funny afterwards but seriously — this is no fun for Antonio Esfandiari, right?

Anyway, looking at the numbers this is one of the best calls in hold’em, EVER. But seriously — is it?

I would never play absolute due to known cheat issues in the past, but getting $33k for folding pre-flop in a $0.5/$1 limit hold’em game is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Casino Chip Collecting

While doing my daily tour of the blogosphere I stumbled upon a website called Casino Chips Collection — and I’m pretty intrigued by the idea of chip collecting myself! I mean, I visit quite a few casinos, and I wouldn’t mind keeping the smaller denominations of chips in stead of giving them to the dealers of the damn blackjack tables I keep ending up at…

Anyway, the site is still really slow, but I like the look… For every chip that gets added to the site they’ve got a photo AND a video, this 1980 Sundance Hotel & Casino Chip for example looks real nice… But so do some of the other ones! Hope the site grows quickly!
